Spring 2024
Arch 490 Prof. Anna Aversing
During my final semester, I undertook an independent study to explore the significance of physical model-making in architecture. I dedicated the semester to researching various aspects of physical models, including their types, history, and materials.
As part of this study, I set out to create a 1:20 scale model of the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. This project was initially intended to document all facets of model-making. However, as I delved into the process, I became particularly fascinated with material exploration and how different materials can influence the outcome and interpretation of architectural models.
The culmination of this project was a comprehensive publication detailing everything I had learned about model-making, complete with instructions and tips on creating physical architectural models.
The images above are of architectural models I have made in the past. Model-making has always been something I'm very passionate about.
